Dental Veneers in Greenville, SC
Keeping your teeth healthy and strong is a critical part of maintaining good oral health for life, but believe it or not, the health of your smile isn’t the only thing that matters. The appearance of your smile is important, too. After all, an attractive smile can have a huge impact on your self-esteem and how you present yourself to others. Fortunately, fixing minor dental imperfections, such as uneven, damaged, or stained teeth, is simple with the help of porcelain veneers. Here’s what you should know about how porcelain veneers can benefit you before scheduling your free consultation with the trusted team at Trail West Family Dentistry.
Overview of Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are very thin shells that are adhered to the front part of a person’s damaged teeth to improve their shape, size, and/or color. At Trail West Family Dentistry, we are proud to use porcelain veneers that offer a tooth-colored appearance and superior durability for a natural aesthetic.
The best candidate for dental veneers is a person with at least one minor cosmetic dental concern, such as discolored or misshapen teeth. Dental veneers are not a good option for people with significant tooth decay, gum disease, or those who grind their teeth at night.
Porcelain Veneer Procedure
If one of our trusted dentists determines that you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers, having them placed in your mouth will occur over two dental appointments. At your first visit, the dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from your tooth’s surface to prepare it for the veneer. Next, he will make an impression of your mouth to send to the lab where your permanent veneer will be made. In the meantime, you’ll be given a temporary veneer to wear.
Once your permanent veneer is complete, the dentist will remove your temporary veneer and attach the permanent one to the front of your tooth. If needed, he will adjust and trim it until it is in the ideal position. It may be necessary to have a follow-up appointment to adjust your cosmetic veneer(s).
